Mr. Jake is a classical singer who performs pop, jazz, classical and musical theatre. Originally from Mansfield, Texas, he moved to California to pursue a Bachelors of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the University of California, Irvine. This is where he gained proficiency in music theory, musicianship, vocal technique, and knowledge of music history. Throughout his four years at UCI, Mr. Jake was active in the opera program, the choir program, and the a Capella community. During composer, Morten Lauridsen’s residency with the UCI Chamber Singers, he was selected to sing three solo songs in Lauridsen’s concert and received private training with the world-renowned composer. Mr. Jake has also held various leadership positions throughout his college career. During his senior year, he was a Music Director for UCI’s pop a Capella group, Vermillion Vocalists, where he led them through an award-winning season, complete with record-breaking productivity. Although he originally started his music career as a singer songwriter playing various places such as, The House of Blues, Dallas, The Prophet Bar, and Boardners, he fell in love with the classical style and has only looked back for fun. Jakes most recent performance was with the UCI opera program where he played George in Ned Rorem’s, Our Town . Mr. Jake is extremely excited for this opportunity with the Pacific Conservatory and is hopeful for the years to come. We welcomed Mr. Jake to Pacific Conservatory in the Fall 2017.
